Ported over from ASRA...posted by Craig D.......

i've been talking to (ie>annoying) steve p, don campbell & frank beste.

(pavel team rider, pavel deck designer & gog truck designer respectively)

_________________________________________________________________________

this is what i've been told many pavel/gog team riders are doing to increase performance.

tried to summarize best info' from many emails/pms/etc...hope slalom-heads enjoy.

___________________________________________________________________________

DKowalski's uses soft inv' cones hourglassed...Foxy 72 deg', Homer 35 deg' (approx)

(many pros now inverting soft cones, flipped r-side for faster/steeper courses)

___________________________________________________________________________

CBark runs Homer approx 32 deg'.

____________________________________________________________________________

SteveP runs Homer 32-37 deg' for TS/Hyb/GS_adjusted accordingly_72 deg' Foxy

RacerX -11-25 deg'...longer deck=more rear angle...runs Homer for TS/GS & Hyb'.

(uses Foxy if super steep downhill, lately mostly using Homer for all disciplines)

____________________________________________________________________________

Pappas runs Homer so loose u can shake his deck & it flops around...v' stiff RacerX -10 deg'.

his style is most powerfull SteveP has seen of all the pros.

___________________________________________________________________________

Frank.B runs a Homer for back truck (no shit) @ just past vert' (positive wedged!?!)

he designed GoG trucks & does the QC so it's hard to question his logic.

____________________________________________________________________________

Chris Baumann made the 'sex block' bushing out of green bigzig for RacerX.

it's molded into whole bushing seat,it gets pressure from all sides instead of mainly top/bottom.

he tried every duro bigzig & found the green to be best performance due to massive size.

____________________________________________________________________________

many German pros don't use soft rear wheels for grip, they're using rear truck angle instead.

evidently using a soft rear is 'old fashioned', rear truck angle influences grip these days.

___________________________________________________________________________

many German pros are running 86-89a wheels, many use 89 front & back these days.

US pros are known for softer wheels than German pros...83-86 is still popular for super GS.

____________________________________________________________________________

many pros don't use risers, just shockpads/nothing, even on rear...depends on deck/rider.

______________________________________________________________________________

newer gogs can be spaced to max' axle width 24/7...axle can handle max spacing no problem.

(FrankB changed design for axles so they're stronger, no axles bent/snapped since update)

__________________________________________________________________________

gogs don't require one to mod' bushing to accept spherical (like Rads for example)

__________________________________________________________________________

RacerX/Foxy 'click/creak' is fixed by tight k-pin washer & perfect height bushing when engaged.

washer 'hole' smaller than kingpin diameter, then file/etc hole till exact fit, u want no play at all.

circumference of kingpin washer can affect noise, smaller usually better...experiment till success.

__________________________________________________________________________

---> Ok u slalom-heads i hope u liked all that coz it took most my morning to type.

i know some of u already know all this & much more but i didn't & maybe i'm not alone.

big thx to pavel/gog fellas for taking the time to answer my many tech questions. (aLOT)

ps-steve.p is also takes those brilliant pics of pavel rigs at slalom races like maryhill/etc.
