From Casey Council 23rd March 2009

Council-"We will be awarding the contract for the ramps design today with the work to commence in the next 2-3 weeks."

Me-"Do you mean the planning work or the actual constructions work? Will the plan be open for public comment before being finalised?"

Council- "Just the planning work. The plan, once developed in consultation directly with skaters, will then go through the normal public exhibition processes. Construction is dependant on support in the upcoming budget for 09/10 which is ok at this stage but may change as the budget goes through its final deliberations with councillors."

sounds like an escape clause to be honest, as they have had the money now for 2 years approved in each budget but have been too slow / lazy to actually do anything.

I now hassle this councilor twice a week to make sure the wheels are still turning.. and have averted some pretty nasty disasters along the way.

Their original plan was to lease it to rollerskate rink ppl under the and have a few portable 1 foot high ramps and a a creche.....thank god that was stopped..
